Assistant Financial Controller
- Location: Remote (UK - Work from home with one day a week in Slough office)

We are seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to join our rapidly growing international business. This role offers the opportunity to be a pivotal part of our finance team, supporting both our UK operations and our Irish entity. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, excel in a team environment, and thrive in a role that demands open communication and a productive work atmosphere.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Liaise with sales and logistics teams to ensure goods are shipped and invoiced in a timely manner.
- Cover for Finance Assistant during leave, including raising sales invoices, processing purchase invoices, and performing bank reconciliations.
- Approve sales invoices raised by the Finance Assistant.
- Assist with weekly cash flow statements to send to the US team, ensuring aged debtors and creditors are reconciled.
- Regularly review aged debtors with the Finance Assistant and follow up where needed.
- Assist with month-end reporting, including creating accrual, prepayment, and depreciation journals.
- Review Balance Sheet reconciliations including intercompany loans.
- Approve lower value POs to suppliers.
- Monitor new supplier and customer creation.
- Check and approve staff expenses.
- Review VAT returns for both the UK and Ireland.
- Review Intrastat and VIES reports for Ireland.
- Process monthly payroll for the UK with the payroll provider.
- Calculate commission payments for sales staff.
- Assist the Financial Controller with year-end requirements.
- General finance administration tasks as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
- Experience with Xero and Salesforce.
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic, flexible, team player with the ability to think and work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with EU VAT is desirable.
- High level of customer ethos and happy to work mainly from home.
