Reed are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a leading leading accounting, tax, and business advisory firm based in central London, who are looking for an Assistant Manager to join their Business Services department.

About the role...

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Oversee the delivery of accounting services to a small portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements.
  • Carry out the first review of financial statements and corporation tax for manager/partner review.
  • Review VAT returns and management accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proactively communicate internally and externally, providing updates and insights that add value to clients and their businesses.
  • Begin management of a small portfolio of clients, ensuring that all deadlines are met.
  • Assist with the management of the ‘pod’ in which your clients sit, including resourcing.
  • Act as line manager to trainees within the ‘pod’, including gathering feedback on team members for performance reviews.
  • Responsible for recoveries and billing, ensuring WIP is well managed and controlled, and billing is completed on time.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent).
  • Excellent knowledge of Xero and other cloud-based software.
  • Understanding of VAT rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and regular dealings with HMRC.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, approachable with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to lead by example, proactive with good problem-solving skills.
