Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: HalifaxSalary: £25,000 - £35,000 (dependent on experience) + Negotiable Benefits

Role OverviewAs an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in supporting the commercial team with cost management and contract administration across various refurbishment and fit-out projects. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in quantity surveying, working on high-profile projects across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparing cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for refurbishment and fit-out projects.
  • Support the procurement process, including tendering and appointing subcontractors.
  • Monitor project costs, variations, and budgets to ensure accurate cost control.
  • Collaborate with project managers to provide commercial advice and ensure projects remain within budget.
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts and managing subcontractor payments.
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress and measure works.
  • Prepare and manage final accounts.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a quantity surveying role, ideally within the refurbishment or fit-out industry.
  • Knowledge of the commercial, healthcare, hospitality, leisure, or residential sectors is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including Microsoft Office and quantity surveying tools.
