ASSISTANT TRANSPORT MANAGER / NEWCASTLE UNDER LYME / UP TO £30K + BENEFITS

Broxap is a family owned engineering business based in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire, established in 1946. We are amongst the market leaders in the design and manufacture of street furniture, shelters, covered walkways, and playground equipment.
As we continue to grow, an opportunity brand-new opening has arisen for a bright, enthusiastic Assistant Transport Manager to join our busy Transport Department.
What’s on Offer?
- Salary up to £30,000 per annum (depending on experience).
- Working hours, Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.
- 25 days holiday entitlement plus 8 bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Transport Manager:
- Assisting the Transport Manager in ensuring all aspects of transportation to the client is done so is a safe, timely and professional manner.
- Accurately inputting of data to parcel & pallet carriers.
- Maintaining logs & manifests.
- Communicate with internal colleagues & external clients either by telephone or email to ensure the correct contact and address details are available as well as ensuring vehicle access, equipment and people power is available to ensure delivery is met when required, right first time and in a safe and secure manner.
- Support the accounts department by ensuring all manifests are costed accurately to support the invoice reconciliation.
- Daily site checks to ensure no completed orders have a 24/48 hour despatch window (orders permitting).
- Contacting customers in a professional manner to arrange delivery of goods.
- Calling carriers to obtain POD’s, ETA & damage claims.
- Communicating with suppliers to organise collection of product.
- Maintain a safe system of work to comply with Broxap’s Health & Safety Policy.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Transport Planning Knowledge
- Strong geographical awareness
- Communication skills by telephone, written and face to face
- Computer skills, Sage system, Transport software, Microsoft Office
- Meticulous attention to detail;
- Excellent time management skills to ensure that time is managed effectively;
- Positive, can do attitude.
- CPC qualification advantageous
