Attendance Officer and Student Administrator for an Independent School

We are seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer and Student Administrator to join our dynamic team at a prestigious educational institution in Central London. This role is crucial in providing a warm and welcoming environment for our students, supporting their academic and social needs, and ensuring the smooth running of our school.
Key Responsibilities
Attendance
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of student attendance in partnership with our attendance officer.
- Follow up with any student not present in their lesson to ensure their whereabouts are known.
- Register pupils on a reduced timetable and liaise with relevant staff concerning any issues.
- Deputise for the attendance officer in their absence.
Student Reception
- Greet and assist students warmly upon arrival, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- Manage student inquiries, providing information and guidance as needed.
- Oversee student sign-in and sign-out procedures.
- Manage lost property and confiscated mobile phones in accordance with school policies.
- Administer the Yondr pouch system, including distribution of replacements and maintaining accurate records.
Student Records
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including personal and medical information.
Communication with Parents
- Facilitate communication from staff to parents using SchoolPost.
- Assist with the administration of school trips as needed.
General Administrative Duties
- Provide assistance and cover for administrative colleagues in support of the Senior Management Team and Head’s Executive Assistant.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and equal opportunities policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in a school or educational setting is preferred.
- A relevant qualification in business administration or secretarial studies is preferred.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service would be desirable.
