The Role of the Audit and Accounts Senior:
In this dynamic role, you will collaborate with the team to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of technical audit and other accountancy services. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting Seniors on Larger Assignments:
- Completing tasks allocated to the standard required by senior colleagues.
- Actively engaging with feedback, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Running Smaller Assignments:
- Completing assignments for managers and supervisors to the required level.
- Delegating tasks to new trainees and providing ongoing constructive feedback.
- Serving as a role model for new trainees.
Portfolio Management:
- Supporting a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Preparation and submission of statutory accounts – FRS 102, Groups, Limited Companies, and LLP Accounts.
Leading Audits:
- Taking the lead in audits from planning through to completion, liaising with the team and clients as necessary.
- Hosting and conducting pre-audit and post-audit meetings with clients.
Team Collaboration:
- Reviewing the work of Junior Accountants and providing on-the-job training.
- Managing assignments with the assistance of other team members as required.
Essential Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualities:
- Minimum 3 years' accountancy practice experience in Audit & Accounts.
- Part-qualified candidates may be considered, depending on the level of experience.
- Adept at team management, showcasing effective leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and advisory skills, with confidence working alongside senior management.
- Proficient use of IT including Excel, audit and accounts packages (CCH Accounts Production, CCH Audit Automation), Outlook, CCH Practice Management.
- A proactive, problem-solving attitude.
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to manage your workload efficiently.
- Commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with Institute and industry requirements, maintaining an up-to-date CPD record.
- Application of knowledge within the industry, markets, and core client base, actively identifying potential business opportunities for the line manager.
- Ability to complete planning and finalization sections of audit files while maintaining a high quality of work.
- Efficient organization and time management skills.
- Awareness of relevant financial targets and constraints, contributing to their achievement and keeping the manager informed of progress and potential issues, including actual versus budget.
- Demonstrable experience within an accountancy firm in a senior audit and accounts role.
- Technical proficiency in audit with excellent attention to detail.
- Maintenance of high professional standards of conduct and practice.
