The Role:As an Audit Manager, you will take responsibility for managing audit assignments from planning through to completion, overseeing junior staff, and ensuring compliance with audit standards. You will work closely with clients, providing high-quality service while identifying opportunities to add value and improve processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and leading audit assignments from planning to completion for a diverse portfolio of clients, including SMEs and larger organisations.
- Conducting risk assessments and developing audit plans.
- Reviewing audit work papers and financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Liaising with clients to gather information, resolve issues, and communicate audit findings.
- Managing and mentoring junior auditors, providing guidance, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Ensuring all audits are delivered on time and within budget, meeting high-quality standards.
- Reviewing internal controls and making recommendations to clients for improvements.
- Managing client relationships, acting as the main point of contact throughout the audit process.
- Reporting audit findings to senior management and clients in a clear and concise manner.
- Staying up to date with changes in audit regulations and accounting standards.
- Supporting business development activities, including identifying opportunities to cross-sell other services.
Requirements:
- ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 5 years' experience in external audit within an accountancy practice.
- Proven experience in managing audits from planning to completion.
- Strong knowledge of UK auditing standards and financial reporting frameworks (UK GAAP and IFRS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple audits and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in audit and accounting software such as CaseWare, Xero, or Sage.
- A proactive approach, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
