The Role:As an External Audit Senior, you will be responsible for leading audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring compliance with audit regulations and delivering high-quality service to clients. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior staff and contribute to the continuous improvement of the audit function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading external audit engagements, from initial planning to final reporting.
- Conducting risk assessments and identifying key areas of audit focus.
- Supervising audit teams on-site and providing guidance to junior staff.
- Reviewing audit work papers and ensuring compliance with audit standards.
- Preparing financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Liaising with clients to discuss audit findings and providing recommendations for improvements.
- Managing client relationships and acting as the key point of contact during audits.
- Ensuring audits are completed within budget and deadlines.
- Keeping up to date with changes in audit regulations and accounting standards.
- Assisting with business development activities and client onboarding.
Requirements:
- ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 3 years’ experience in external audit.
- Strong knowledge of UK auditing standards, accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience managing audit assignments from planning to completion.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple audits and deadlines.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff.
- Proficiency in audit software and accounting tools such as CaseWare, Sage, or similar.
- A proactive and client-focused approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
