The Role:As an External Audit Senior, you will be responsible for leading audit assignments from start to finish, managing client relationships, and mentoring junior team members. You will play a key role in ensuring that audits are carried out to the highest standards, while meeting client deadlines and delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading external audits from planning through to completion, including fieldwork and reporting.
- Preparing and reviewing audit work papers and financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Conducting risk assessments and identifying key areas of audit focus.
- Supervising and mentoring junior auditors, providing guidance and technical support.
- Managing client relationships, acting as the key point of contact during audit engagements.
- Ensuring audits are completed within deadlines and budget requirements.
- Liaising with clients to discuss audit findings, address queries, and offer recommendations for improvements.
- Reviewing internal controls and identifying opportunities for process improvements within client organisations.
- Keeping up to date with changes in audit regulations and accounting standards.
- Assisting in business development activities, including identifying potential cross-service opportunities with clients.
Requirements:
- ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of experience in external audit within an accountancy practice.
- Strong knowledge of UK auditing standards and financial reporting frameworks (UK GAAP and IFRS).
- Proven experience in managing audit assignments from planning to completion.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple audits and deadlines.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff.
- Proficiency in audit software and accounting systems such as CaseWare, Xero, or Sage.
- A proactive approach with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and assess risks within audits.
