FPSG seek a motivated and skilled Backend Engineer to join a rapidly growing team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in delivering on complex problems, building scalable systems, and contributing to innovative products. This is a fast-paced, inventive, collaborative environment where your Node.js, Python, API and Cloud Services skills will impact the success of the platform.

In the Backend Developer role responsibilities will include:

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of scalable efficient backend systems to support a growing user base and evolving features.
• Influence the design, improvement, and implementation of APIs to drive mobile & web applications.
• Drive collaboration and engagement with Front End, Product and other Business colleagues to deliver technical solutions that answer business needs.
• Contribute to security & scalability of a high-volume transaction enabled backend architecture.
• Driving best practices, promoting innovation, following industry standards.
• Showing the flexibility to regularly move from troubleshooting to innovation, from optimising to strategising as the company and platform continues to scale.
• Contribute to future production design processes

To be a Backend Developer you will need demonstrable experience of:

• A proven track record as a Backend Developer building scalable web services.
• Extensive coding experience in development frameworks / languages such as Node.js and Python.
• Expertise in API design including RESTful, GraphQL, SQL and NoSQL.
• Expertise in cloud services; AWS, Google Cloud, Azure.
• Excellent knowledge of microservices, event-driven systems, distributed computing.
• Familiarity with collaborative Agile methodologies, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies, Docker, Kubernetes etc.
• Familiarity with advanced security best practice in backend services.
• Highly desirable to have prior exposure to social media platform engagement.

**Please note where hybrid working is encouraged the ability to "get together" regularly means that living in an easily commutable distance from Edinburgh is desired.
