Job Opportunity: Band 6 NHS Data Engineer
Rate: £160 per day
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Location: Fully remote (no office days required)
Contract Length: 3 months with extensions

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to work on a data platform that plays a critical role in transforming health and social care services. This long-term initiative focuses on using the Google Cloud Platform to enable secure, efficient data access and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing using modern, cloud-based tools.
- Oversee data architecture including data lakes and data warehouses, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Develop and implement data quality frameworks, transformations, and analytical data models.
- Optimise cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency, scalability, and performance.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver data solutions aligned with business needs.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation on data pipelines, architectures, and systems.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for data analytics.
- Strong experience with data modeling and the ability to produce industry-standard data models.
- Familiarity with metadata repository design and management.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
- Demonstrated ability to address database issues and resolve problems in data processes, products, and services.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications such as Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics, or Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer.
- Experience with advanced tools like Cloudera, Databricks, or other data engineering platforms.
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry for large-scale system monitoring.
