About Us

Brookwood Club is a small community minded private members club, based in Brookwood, Surrey. Brookwood Club has been in the heart of the village for over 100 years and is an independent members club. Members pay the Brookwood Club an annual members fee while abiding by Club rules. The Club is run to provide our members and guests with a quality experience, within a friendly, relaxed, and welcoming atmosphere.

The Club is now seeking a highly motivated Bar Manager skilled in detail-oriented service, member recognition tending bar, purchasing, bartender scheduling and ongoing training for new staff and volunteers.

About the Role

The Bar Manager must be visible at appropriate times and ensure a management/supervisory presence to ensure member and guest satisfaction. The Bar Manager is supervised by the Brookwood Club Committee.

The Bar Manager is expected to have a firm grasp of bar management with the ability to develop and achieve goals and will display a positive attitude and promote teamwork. The Bar Manager needs to have a competent knowledge of different types of beer, real ales, wine and spirits and their delivery.

The Bar Manager role is expected to live on site.

Key responsibilities:

  • Recruiting, training, and motivating your staff.
  • Doing regular stock-takes and ordering as necessary.
  • Handling deliveries and maintaining the condition of beer and wine.
  • Tending bar and serving members and guests.
  • Keeping up to date with licensing legislation and liaising with the authorities.
  • Enforcing health and safety rules.
  • Adhering to budgets, increasing profits, and managing cash flow.
  • Dealing with difficult customers.

Main tasks

  • Assist in creating a warm and welcoming environment for our members and guests.
  • Meet, greet, and serve members and their guests in a polite, friendly, speedy, and professional manner.
  • Change kegs, casts, take in deliveries and restock the bar.
  • Ensure efficient and safe delivery of all snack and beverage orders.
  • Set up, clear, and ensure the bar areas are clean and well presented at all times.
  • Assist in the set up and preparation and provide service duties for events, as required.

Criteria

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Bar/hospitality management: 2 years (preferred).
  • Cash management.
  • Stock control.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent (approximately 40 hours a week)

Salary: £20,200 per annum including accommodation (a large one bedroom flat above the club, worth approximately £13,000 per annum) NB: Bills not included.
