BI ENGINEER

£30,000-£35,000

Permanent / Full Time / 37.5 hours Monday to Friday

Hybrid / Bath

Touchstone, trusted by the UK’s biggest landlords to manage their portfolios, is looking for an experienced BI Engineer / Insight Analyst to join a small Technology and Innovation team, in Bath.

This is a hybrid role, with at least 2 days a week (Monday and Wednesday), based at our Bath Office (BA2 2AF) with your team, and the remainder working from home.

This role would suit someone who understands financial data, enjoys balancing the demands of dealing with multiple complex queries from clients and colleagues, and revels in building / maintaining Power BI dashboards.

What is the role?

You will be a data expert, with extensive experience using Power BI (ideally) and Excel, creating reports, dashboards, and performing data analysis to enable the business to make informed decisions and uncover valuable business insights.

As our BI Engineer / Insight Analyst you will play a crucial role in transforming raw/curated data into reporting requirements and supporting our business by resolving complex data queries.

You will be responsible for processing data, creating data models, reports and interactive dashboards, and conducting ad hoc data analysis.

You will work closely with various teams to understand their data needs, provide reporting solutions, and ensure that our data reporting and analysis processes are streamlined and accurate.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Data Reporting and Dashboard Creation: Develop and maintain a variety of reports and interactive dashboards to provide insights into key performance indicators (KPIs) and critical business metrics.
  • Data Analysis and Queries: Apply analytical skills to perform ad hoc data analysis, resolve complex data queries, and answer business questions.
  • Business Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate business questions into reporting requirements and data analysis.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Ensure data accuracy and reliability by conducting thorough data validation and maintaining data integrity in reports and dashboards.
  • Data Processing and Modelling: Utilise data processing tools to perform ETL processes and build semantic data models using standardised modelling techniques.
  • Data Visualisation and Presentation: Present complex data in a clear and visually appealing manner, making it easy for stakeholders to understand and act upon insights.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimise and streamline data reporting and analysis processes for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, to foster effective collaboration and data-driven decision-making.
  • Data Governance and Compliance: Adhere to data governance policies and ensure data privacy and security standards are maintained, including managing access to data in reports.

What skills and experience will you have?

Essential

  • Extensive experience as an Insight Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role, focusing on data processing, reporting and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Power BI (or similar tool) for data visualizations and experience with querying databases (e.g. SQL).
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to transform data into actionable insights.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and data integrity in reports and dashboards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data analysis in a clear and concise manner.

Preferred

  • Understanding of MRI Qube, SQL databases, and Power BI for data processing and building reports.
  • Experience of working with finance and property management data
  • Demonstrable knowledge of data structure, information systems/tools, related software and data management, enterprise content management, and record-keeping policies and practices in a complex organizational environment.
  • STEM degree (or equivalent experience)
