Foremans Packaging is a well established manufacturer, with an enviable reputation for quality and service. Based in Chelmsford for 150 years, we are suppliers to key manufacturers of medical, military and the aerospace industry. We value integrity and teamwork and are looking for a Bookkeeper / Administrator to join us and take responsibility for all our accounting and administration duties.

JobOverview You will be accountable for the company’s bookkeeping and financial administration obligations daily, monthly, quarterly and annually. You will also be responsible for supporting the MD and the team in the day to day running of the office, undertaking basic and routine administrative duties, as well as ad hoc industry specific projects.

Duties

  • Prepare monthly Management Accounts to Balance Sheet, along with financial reports and assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Prepare annual accounts for auditing.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions
  • Complete VAT return.
  • Manage accounts payable, including processing payments and reconciling statements.
  • Manage accounts receivable and Credit Control
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting software.
  • Some administration and ad hoc project duties
  • Responsible for HR function, maintain personnel records and collate payroll information
  • Manage Pension Auto Enrolment.

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero,
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial reporting.
  • Excellent numerical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Good communication skills for liaising with team members and external stakeholders.
