Job Title: Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant
Location: Takeley
Salary: £30,000 per annum

About the Client:
Our client is a reputable and growing construction company based in Takeley, dedicated to delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. Currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join the team and manage the financial operations of our business.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and payments, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Manage payroll for staff and contractors, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
Reconciliations:
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and supplier accounts regularly.
- Ensure accurate end-of-month and year-end reconciliations.
Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing financial insights to support decision-making.
VAT and Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC regulations.
- Liaise with accountants for year-end financial submissions and audits.
Administrative Support:
- Maintain and organize financial documents and records, both digitally and physically.
- Support the team with ad hoc administrative tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, ideally within the construction industry.
- Familiarity with construction-specific financial processes, such as CIS (Construction Industry Scheme), is advantageous.
- AAT qualification or equivalent is preferred but not essential with relevant experience.
- Proficient in Sage accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
