Building Surveyor

We are seeking a dedicated Building Surveyor to join our Clients Property and Maintenance team on a part time basis, 3 days a week. This role involves undertaking building surveys, managing development projects, and ensuring our Clients properties meet environmental and sustainability targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building surveying, project management, and a commitment to creating efficient and sustainable living spaces.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct building surveys for both new and existing properties to inform decisions, appraisals, and maintenance plans.
- Project manage development, extension, and refurbishment projects, ensuring they are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Liaise with architects, contractors, and suppliers, providing technical guidance and managing the tender process.
- Prepare specifications and schedules of works for tender, and manage projects from progress to completion.
- Offer defect diagnosis and undertake a range of property surveys.
- Support the organisation in meeting its environmental and sustainability goals, including net zero targets for housing stock.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Building Surveying or a related field.
- Experience in managing building maintenance and capital building work contracts.
- Proficient in stock condition surveys and property maintenance (planned/cyclical/reactive).
- Comprehensive understanding of statutory and legal regulations including planning legislation, Health and Safety, and Fire Safety.
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to negotiate and achieve value for money.
- Excellent design sense to create modern, accessible, and comfortable homes.
- Financial awareness with the ability to manage budgets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT systems.
- Car driver with access to own vehicle.
