Business Intelligence Analyst

• Rate: £23 per hour via umbrella
• Location: Hybrid / Derby, UK
• Hours: 37 per week
• Contract Length: Initial 3 months

About the Role

Are you a data-driven problem solver with a passion for turning complex data into actionable insights? We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Policy & Insight team, where you will play a key role in developing high-quality reports, performance analysis, and intelligence solutions to support strategic decision-making across the Organisation.

You will be working with Power BI, SQL, Business Objects, and other business intelligence tools, helping to improve service delivery, ensure statutory compliance, and drive innovation in data reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Analysis & Reporting: Design and build high-quality intelligence reports to support senior stakeholders, including Service Directors, Heads of Service, and external partners.
• Statutory Data Returns: Lead the processing of statutory data returns, ensuring compliance, validation, and timely submission.
• Business Intelligence & Innovation: Develop data solutions and dashboards that provide meaningful insights for decision-making.
• Data Quality & Governance: Monitor and improve data accuracy, working closely with teams to implement best practices.
• Training & Support: Provide system administration, support, and training on business applications for internal and external users.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with ICT, software suppliers, government bodies, and partner organisations to enhance data reporting processes.
• Strategic Performance Management: Support corporate performance monitoring, benchmarking, and business planning initiatives.
• Supervision & Leadership: Provide coaching and guidance to junior analysts and temporary employees as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or performance reporting in a local government or similar environment.
• Proficiency in Power BI, SQL, Business Objects, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong ability to interpret complex datasets, identify trends, and provide strategic insights.
• Experience in coordinating statutory data returns and working with performance indicators.
• Previous Local Government experience
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to senior management.
• Knowledge of data governance, benchmarking techniques, and performance management frameworks.
• A degree or equivalent experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
