An excellent opportunity for a Business Services Manager has arisen with our client, who are a forward thinking, independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Pimlico, London.
You will be responsible for managing the business services team, overseeing a team of 3 staff, as well as working on bookkeeping, VAT, management and year-end accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients in various industries, including owner managed businesses and some charities.
Duties include:
- Preparation, review and filing of VAT returns and associated bookkeeping including reconciling bank, cash, and other control accounts as well as sales & purchase ledger input & reconciliations.
- Preparation and review of periodic management accounts.
- Liaising with clients on a regular and timely basis to obtain their books and records, reviewing these and providing support to clients with any bookkeeping/VAT issues and enquiries.
- Registering & de-registering clients for VAT, as and when required.
- Good knowledge of the principles and workings of VAT and able to provide VAT advice to other staff members and clients, as well as researching matters to resolve VAT queries on an ad hoc basis.
- Capable of working on numerous clients’ affairs, adhering to client and statutory deadlines, and ensuring all VAT Returns within the department are filed on time.
- Providing support and training to clients and staff on bookkeeping & VAT matters.
- Preparing and overseeing the periodic billing of bookkeeping/VAT services in respect of the business services portfolio.
- Overseeing and assisting with the preparation of annual accounts to trial balance stage, including computing accruals, prepayments, depreciation etc. and preparing working paper files to a high and professional standard, working on IRIS software.
You will ideally have at least 5 years bookkeeping, VAT and management/year-end accounts experience in a UK practice, with a managerial background, as well as holding a professional qualification such as AAT/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent or be qualified by experience. You will also possess excellent communication and organisational skills and be proficient in software such as IRIS, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage Line 50 and Excel.
