MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Buyer, based in East Kilbride on behalf of our leading manufacturing client. The successful Buyer, based in East Kilbride will report directly into the Procurement Manager.
The successful Buyer, based in East Kilbride, will be responsible for overall ownership of a pre-determined set of commodities and services, cost reduction projects, and supplier performance management.
Key Responsibilities for the Buyer based in East Kilbride:
- Account management of key strategic contractors including operational purchasing and performance improvement and relationship management across all business functions.
- Source new suppliers and coordinate returns or repairs of products
- Resolve conflicts concerning materials or services at the department and supplier levels.
- Keep in constant contact with appropriate internal/external stakeholders to ensure excellent performance.
- Responsibility for procuring appropriate items or services.
- Creates and reviews purchase orders.
- Ensures delivery of all materials and components within lead time and budget, in line with the required delivery date by business.
- Continuous Improvement of On-Time delivery and quality performance of key suppliers.
- Benchmarking of key commodities and undertake supply chain research to ensure purchasing power is maximised
- All commodities are purchased within budget and material savings are maximised.
- Participate in compiling company metrics for KPI's
Key Education/Qualifications for the Buyer based in East Kilbride:
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of procurement - including sourcing, commercial negotiation, supplier management and global sourcing.
- Excellent commercial & business acumen
- Excellent supplier relationship management skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams to achieve business goals and objectives.
- Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally
- Ability to plan activities, meet assigned schedules and achieve planned targets and objectives.
- 3 years in a similar role
- The candidate should preferably have a professional qualification in Purchasing or Supply (such as CIPS) or a relevant business degree
