Successful manufacturing business require a Buyer. Applicants need procurement experience within manufacturing and have strong supplier management skills - risk management, recovery plans, the ability to improve supplier performance.
The Buyer will join a team of Buyers reporting into a Procurement Manager. The role will focus on the management of a suite of critical suppliers, who supply the business across a number of product ranges. Encompassing both tactical supplier management around OTIF/OTD metrics, the Buyer will also support strategic initiatives around supplier continuous improvement activities and risk mitigation plans.
Specific duties of the Buyer include:
- Supply market intelligence activities around specific supply areas - identify/onboard potential new partners
- Strategic supplier management - Reviews, meetings, audits, recovery plans, seek collaboration and innovation
- Support stakeholders in Quality/Engineering around supplier quality and non-conformance issues
- Ownership of supplier scorecards in regards to tactical and or operational metrics - OTD/OTIF/QCD
- Contribute to broader procurement and inventory management strategies
Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Procurement experience as a Buyer, Senior Buyer or Strategic Buyer
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering business, procuring direct materials and components for manufacturing
- Ability to negotiate with suppliers and foster long-term partnerships
- Supplier relationship management skills and the ability to develop supplier performance
- An appreciation of MRP functionality to manage inventory levels
