Job Description :

A CAD technician with civil engineering experience to provide both CAD & design support within a small, but growing design team carrying out 11kV to 132kV substation design work. This is a wide-ranging role providing both general & civil design support to the team. Previous substation design experience would be advantageous, but no essential.

Main Responsibilities
  • Carry out AutoCAD drawings based on drafts provided by design engineers.
  • Providing design assistance to other members of the design team.
  • Complete drawing quality assurance reviews.
  • Assist with the maintenance of company standard drawing templates.
  • Assist with project document control.
  • Assist with the collation of design packs for submission to clients.
  • Maintain technical reference library.
  • Co-ordinate with & provide support to other members of the design team & other departments.
  • Occasional site visits to complete surveys or ‘as-built’ reviews.
Person Specification

Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years experience as a CAD/Technical Draughtsperson using AutoCAD. Formal qualifications not essential, but AutoCAD &/or construction related qualifications would be of an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years AutoCAD experience.
  • Cloud based document control systems.
  • Worked within the electrical or construction industry.
  • Experience of BIM would be an advantage, but not essential.
  • A minimum of diploma level qualification in electrical engineering or similarly biased course would be advantageous, but not essential.

Skills

  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD &/or other similar CAD software.
  • Experience of working with cloud based document control platforms.
  • Good written, verbal communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Good personal management, decision making & problem-solving skills.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Good computer literacy, including use of Microsoft office-based applications (e.g. word, excel & outlook).
  • Full UK driving licence.
