CAD Designer/Draughtsman

We are seeking a Design Draughtsman to join a team providing engineering drawings, bills of materials, and installation operating and maintenance manuals for new and current valve projects and orders. The role requires adherence to agreed criteria, quality, and timescales.
You'll work with a product that is already in existence and creating customised versions of it to a customer’s order. The individual orders can take anywhere from ½ hour to 1 week to complete
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide 3D design concepts and planning in drawings as required to meet sales briefs.
- Produce designs and drawings to BS8888, meeting the requirements of the company and its customers.
- Create installation, operating, and maintenance manuals tailored to customer needs and production requirements.
- Modify designs/drawings for continual improvement, including changes for design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Issue and control drawings to company procedures, maintain filing systems, and ensure general office tidiness.
- Transfer legacy drawings into updated CAD PDM system.
- Control parts identification and BOM compilation using the company’s Supply Chain Management system.
- Check own work for accuracy and completeness.
- Understand electrical items to facilitate specification and testing of products.
- Comprehend ATEX implications on valve designs/drawings.
- Provide design support across manufacturing, including machine shop, assembly, purchasing, inspection, stores, and dispatch.
- Assist the Technical Manager during R&D projects and support Sales & Marketing when required.
- Maintain health and safety standards within the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Mechanical Design Engineering experience, knowledge of rotating mechanisms is advantageous.
- Effective communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Competent with 3D CAD systems, such as Autodesk Inventor or similar.
- Good problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage workload ensuring targets and objectives are met.
- Continuous self-improvement mindset.
- Understanding of basic electrical concepts for product specification and testing.
