About the role
We are looking for a Canteen Team Manager for our Distribution Centre in Hatfield to manage a small team of nine in ensuring our kitchen and service counters run smoothly and deliver fresh high quality home cooked food on a daily basis to our onsite colleagues.

The role is full time, contracted to 38 hours per week, predominately Monday to Friday, but weekends may be required occasionally as the business needs. You will ideally have a background working within a large kitchen with an ability to cater for up to 500 people over a 24-hour period. The successful candidate will report directly to an operational manager.
Role Responsibility
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen and canteen areas
- The preparation & cooking of fresh wholesome food to the highest standards
- Supervising our canteen team to ensure we continue to deliver impeccable food and customer service
- Implementing and reviewing Health & Safety standards to ensure compliance in the workplace and the team.
- Overseeing the efficiency of canteen workplace, including ordering of stock, monitoring budgets, and implementing action plans
- Communicating regularly with your line manager to monitor KPIs and targets
- Creating a range of daily and weekly specials and implementing new ideas based on customer preferences, catering for occasional themed events whilst ensuring dietary requirements are catered for at all times.
- Supporting and training the team, leading from the front to make sure everyone can excel in their role
- Maintaining a welcoming environment for a multi - cultural workforce and to embrace diversity.
- Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships within the team and DC departments
You will need
- Hold a recognised cooking qualification and/or relevant experience
- To have a minimum of two years of catering experience
- To have experience managing teams in a similar role
- Ability to apply soft skills as necessary to develop and motivate the team
- Minimum Level 2 Food Safety Qualification
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrate good financial acumen
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be an ambitious and motivated individual who is always looking to upskill
- Good knowledge and experience of catering including; food hygiene and food safety
