Job DetailsJob Title:Careers Adviser Department:Careers Campus:AltonSalary:Grade 4 Spine Point 17 - £30,542.55 FTE (Actual salary: £11,608.23)Contract Type:Permanent, 42 weeks of the year.About the RoleWe are looking for a vibrant, enthusiastic and dedicated adviser to help young people to explore opportunities, making decisions regarding education, employment, apprenticeship and training, progression routes and choices.You will provide comprehensive and impartial Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (GEIAG) to students, prospective students, parents and staff through 1:1, tutorials, drop in and online resources.Responsibilities You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the progression and retention of students throughout the student journey, providing effective careers guidance and development at key points during the curriculum.
- Working independently to manage a caseload of student guidance interviews. Providing one-to-one impartial advice, guidance and development. Implementing appropriate and individualised careers strategies; enabling student led career management through effective support, reflection and informed labour market information.
- Raising student career aspirations. Promoting, recording, and evaluating extra-curricular activities, such as work experience, for the development of employability skills.
- Ensuring the smooth running of the careers hub area to include researching and updating career materials, providing front facing support and reviewing all online resources.
- Lead and promote good careers practice, inspiring others within the college to meet and maintain all 8 Gatsby Benchmarks.
- Support the Careers Manager with collection and analysis of destination data to inform the careers programme and strategy.
Requirements You will need:
- Experience of working in an advisory position
- Experience of career development, education, information, advice and guidance.
- Level 4 or above in Information & Advice, or equivalent (CIAG/ IAG Level 4 or CEIAG Level 6)
- Knowledge of The Gatsby Benchmarks
- Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills, able to deal with complex issues sensitively and with confidence
