Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer

- Salary: £28-£38 per hour
We are recruiting for a Lecturer in Carpentry & Joinery. This role involves delivering high-quality and effective teaching and learning to students, with a focus on practical skills and employability within the carpentry and joinery sector. You will also act as a personal tutor, guiding students through their academic journey.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students across various levels in Carpentry & Joinery.
- Embed employability and employer engagement activities into the programmes.
- Support and organise community and personal enrichment activities, including educational trips.
- Prepare comprehensive schemes of learning, lesson plans, and learning materials for effective curriculum delivery.
- Promote and actively support safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and health and safety in all aspects of college life.
- Provide timely and developmental feedback on students’ work and report on their progress.
- Participate in curriculum development activities and the student admissions process.
- Represent the college at both internal and external events and meetings.
- Engage in the college’s quality assurance processes and internal verification.
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and skills through relevant CPD activities.
- Liaise effectively with parents/guardians of students.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ level 2 or Craft certificate in Carpentry & Joinery.
- Maths and English at Level 2 or willingness to achieve these qualifications.
- Proficient in 1st fix, 2nd fix, and cut roof/trusses techniques.
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience in Carpentry and Joinery.
- Strong knowledge of current evidence-based practices in the field.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Availability to attend college events, including during evenings and outside normal working hours.
