Category Manager - Macildowie Recruitment and Retention : Job Details

Macildowie are delighted to be working with the London Borough of Waltham Forest Council in the appointment of a Category Manager within the procurement directorate. This fixed term contract is for an initial 6 month period, acting as procurement lead in the management and delivery a range of significant projects across the People procurement category, ensuring the delivery of the service meets all Council, professional and legislative requirements.

Experience in the following range of indirect procurement areas are desirable, including but not limited to;

• Adults and Children's social care
• Public Health services
• Special Educational Needs services
• Accommodation services for vulnerable cohorts

Main responsibilities

• To lead on the development of strategic sourcing options for Procurements within the People category.
• Taking a leadership role on behalf of borough officers in direct negotiations with suppliers, clients and other providers of services.
• Advising Directors, Members, staff, external consultants and others on complex procurement and contractual matters associated with projects.
• Manage responses to complex professional or politically sensitive issues within the area of responsibility.
• Leading major procurements using the appropriate methods and procedures, guiding relevant procurements via DPS.
• Managing major projects and control allocated resources.
• Direct line management of up to 5 posts

This is a lead role as contracts underpin all of the Council's services and the post-holder will be required to deliver value for money contracts for a range of critical capital projects. The post holder will lead on the procurement of high value (£multi m), high risk contracts to the Council.
