Academics, an educational recruitment agency, is seeking a Catering Assistant for one of our partner schools in Barnsley. This temporary Catering Assistant role starts ASAP and runs until October half-term, with the possibility of an extension. Main Responsibilities:

  • As a Catering Assistant, you will prepare, cook, and serve food to pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure the kitchen, surrounding areas, and all equipment are kept clean and safe.
  • Provide efficient and polite service while fostering good customer relations.
  • Collaborate with staff to create a pleasant dining experience.
  • Attend meetings or training to support best practices in the team.
  • Promote the school's objectives by delivering high-quality and efficient service.
  • Primarily work in the kitchen, but as a Catering Assistant, you'll also be flexible to support other areas if required.

    • Requirements of the Role:

    • A good standard of written and oral communication skills.
    • Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
    • Awareness of food safety regulations.
    • Experience working with food and general kitchen procedures.
    • Able to work well with children, adults, and staff.
    • Capable of working as part of a team or on your own initiative.
    • Commitment to personal and team development.
    • Ability to maintain a calm and positive working environment.
    • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
