Randstad has an opportunity available for a Catering Technician to join the growing team at Belfast Metropolitan College.
To provide an efficient, effective, and safe technical service to students and lecturers in support of education and training within all curriculum areas by supporting classroom practice and learning activities, ensuring that facilities, equipment, and materials are prepared in advance and to the required standard.

Requirements
- Either a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. Professional Cookery, Hospitality, Stores plus one years' experience working in the field of catering and hospitality OR have a minimum of three years' experience working in the field of catering and hospitality in a stores roles
- Experience of working in the hospitality/catering industry
- Experience in managing resources in a catering setting
- Experience in ordering stock and stock management.
- Due to the nature of the role, candidates will be subject to enhanced vetting including an enhanced Access NI check
Responsibilities
- Support lecturing staff before and during lessons by preparing and making available equipment materials, and food
- Demonstrating techniques as specified by the lecturer and providing assistance and supervision to students during practical, theory sessions, exams, and assessment.
- Issuing equipment and materials to students in accordance with college procedures.
- Monitor and report on equipment and materials to ensure safe usage, storage, and compliance.
- Undertake technician duties in college stores, Bakery and Linen Lounge as required.
- Placing orders with suppliers in accordance with procurement policy and utilising the college's stock management and ordering system
- Ensure smooth running of provision of ingredients and equipment to classes
- Receive and check items delivered are in good condition and that they agree with both the orderand delivery documentation
- Administer the ordering, control and dispensing of food, materials, and laundry for classroom purposes.
- Maintain records relating to the movement of equipment ensuring effective stock and equipment control.
- Prepare audit reports of equipment, large, small, disposables, dry goods, freezer stock and practical work areas to agreed timescales.
