Children Looked After - Social Worker

Swindon Borough Council are looking to expand their current team. The Children Looked After team is looking for a Social Worker to join a well-structured and organised team. This Children Looked After Social Worker role will be for an initial 3-6 months with potential for extension subject to internal circumstance and your performance.

Children Looked After Social Worker Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing a caseload and be responsible for assessment and planning for Looked after Children (LAC) and supporting them toward independence.
  • Involving parents and/or carers in the Leaving Care process and taking into account their wishes, feelings and needs in relation to the reason for the assessment and the position of the child (ren) referred.
  • Involve service users throughout assessment and planning processes.
  • Undertaking Human Rights and Age Assessments on Unaccompanied Migrants and Refugee
  • Seeking children/ families.
  • Monitoring the progress of assessment plans, care and pathway plans, court directed plans and child protection plans and carries out these plans as required.
  • Completing core assessments, LAC and Pathway Plans and other reports as required.
  • Giving evidence in Court in pursuance of Proceedings where necessary to safeguard children.
  • Adhering to guidance in relation to support Children in the Care of the Local Authority, ensuring that each child's opportunities for positive life chances are maximized so that they reach their full potential.

Requirements / Experience preferred:

  • HCPC Registration
  • 1-2 years post qualifying experience within the UK Social Care industry
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
