Contract: temporary position with a view to applying for the perm roleLocation: Doncaster

Job Purpose:Join our client’s team to make a real difference in the lives of young people, including those leaving care and unaccompanied asylum seeker children. We provide a wide range of interventions to prevent homelessness and promote independent living skills. As a Team Leader, you will support our operational teams and lead supported accommodation projects to ensure excellent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy Adherence: Stay updated with policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Project Oversight: Manage supported accommodation projects with the Service Manager's support.
  • Support Delivery: Provide strengths-based support and restorative practice, managing a small caseload.
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure effective support delivery, addressing housing needs, managing risks, and prioritizing safeguarding.
  • Collaboration: Work with service managers, personal assistants, and support workers to place young people safely.
  • Staff Management: Provide management and support to support workers, including regular supervision.
  • Monitoring: Ensure accurate recording of staff activity and regular review of risk assessments and support plans.
  • Performance Management: Follow performance and absence management processes.
  • Strength Building: Work with young people to identify and develop areas of strength using trauma-informed tools.
  • Income Maximization: Manage arrears and voids, ensuring smooth sign-up and move-in processes.
  • Partnership Development: Develop and maintain relationships with partners and agencies.
  • Administration: Set up and maintain administration systems and complete quality audits.
  • Independent Living Promotion: Encourage resilience and engagement in meaningful activities to prevent homelessness.
  • On-Call Duty: Participate in the on-call out-of-hours system.

Knowledge and Skills Summary:

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office and other information systems.
  • Self-Management: Ability to plan, prioritize tasks, and consistently deliver results.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effective communication with various stakeholders, including through social media.
  • Youth Issues Knowledge: Understanding of issues affecting young people leaving care, at risk of homelessness, and young parents.
  • Legislation and Best Practices: Knowledge of Health & Safety, Early Help, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding, restorative practice, asset-based and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to engage with clients and colleagues, developing supportive professional relationships and challenging poor practice.

Person Specification:

  • Approach and Values: Commitment to diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and supporting clients.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, self-management, and knowledge of issues affecting young people.
  • Experience: Experience working with young people, providing housing management services, supervising staff, and developing relationships with partner agencies.
  • Qualifications: Relevant professional or managerial qualification, valid UK driving license, and language skills (e.g., Urdu, BSL).
  • UK drivers' licence
