Your new companyDue to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking to recruit a team leader to join the Cleaning & Catering team. Your new roleAs a Team Leader in the Catering and Cleaning team for Birmingham City Council, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all cleaning tasks are performed according to the Cleaning Specification, following Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with the Council's Quality Management System (QMS) and relevant standards such as ISO9001 and ISO14001. Your role includes ensuring adequate day-to-day cover arrangements, contributing to the efficiency and compliance of client contracts, and managing stock levels and equipment maintenance. You will oversee compliance with statutory requirements, including Health & Safety and COSHH regulations, and foster a positive Health & Safety culture. Additionally, you will conduct risk assessments, monitor cleaning operations, and maintain effective communication within your team and with customers. Your responsibilities also encompass HR procedures, staff management, training, and maintaining documentation. You will liaise with on-site customers, cover for other Team Leaders as needed, and continuously develop your skills to enhance business performance. Understanding and communicating the Council's aims and objectives to your team will be crucial to your success in this role.

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this position you need experience as a Team Leader or in a managerial position with previous experience or knowledge of the cleaning, maintenance and catering sector. You will need to be willing to undertake travel, covering 30 sites across the North of Birmingham. A full clean UK driving licence is required, along with adding business insurance to your car insurance policy, if not already added. You also need to be IT literate, and comfortable using Microsoft systems.This position has varied working hours, you will work 5 days a week stretching from Monday-Sunday. Depending on the needs of the business, you will be expected to manage your diary effectively to ensure your site visits are completed.Before starting you will need to undertake, referencing, right to work and driving checks, and this role will be an ASAP start once compliant.

What you'll get in returnThis is a full time, 36.5 hours per week position, on a 3 month ongoing contract, you will receive a basic rate of £16.60 per hour + holiday allowance, taking the total hourly accrual to £18.60 per hour (PAYE)
