Position: CNC Milling Machine Operator / Setter
Reporting To: Team Leader / Supervisor

Role Purpose
As a CNC Milling Machine Operator / Setter, you will be responsible for the precise machining of high-tolerance components using CNC 3 & 5 Axis machining centers. You will ensure the quality, efficiency, and accuracy of manufacturing processes while adhering to safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Proficiently use measuring equipment to interpret and measure components accurately.
- Set up, operate, and safeguard machinery required for manufacturing, ensuring optimal function.
- Maintain the integrity of materials, work in progress, and equipment throughout the manufacturing process.
- Accurately book material usage against work orders and control material consumption.
- Coordinate manufacturing activities in collaboration with the Team Leader and Supervisor.
- Ensure all job bookings and operation stages are properly closed out at the end of each shift or job completion.
- Identify machine capability issues and resolve problems related to drawings or task execution.
- Handle post-production activities, including returning spare material, production tools, and client drawings.
- Work in compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards, maintaining a high level of quality.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping in all manufacturing areas.
- Adhere to Company policies, procedures, and Health and Safety guidelines.
- Follow the Company Quality Assurance System and meet regulatory requirements.
- Undertake additional duties as requested by the Team Leader or Supervisor.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-variety, low-volume machine shop environment.
- Familiarity with Autodesk/Delcam Power Mill or similar programming software is advantageous.
Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a machine shop environment, ideally as a time-served mechanical engineer.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and specifications.
- Strong capability in setting up and machining complex workpieces with confidence.
- Experience with modern machining strategies, including High Feed/Speed tooling.
- Skilled in setting and operating Mazak VariAxis i500 and/or Mazak VTC800 5-Axis machining centers.
- Knowledge of CNC machine controls such as Mazak Matrix2, Mazak Smooth X, and Siemens D840.
- Good understanding of material properties, including steel, aluminum, and alloys.
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship (ideally in composite craft or mechanical technician) or equivalent experience.
- City & Guilds qualification or equivalent preferred.
