What you will do:

• As one of our Commercial Banking Manager at Metro Bank you will work with your Regional Commercial team colleagues across the North East of England* to play a key role in delivering the brand and business model for Commercial Banking, maintaining and growing our commercial book

• Create and maintain a portfolio of Commercial Banking SME customers through business development and promotion of the Metro Bank brand and products

• Build key relationships with key internal stakeholders.

• Maximise customer relationship, whilst remaining compliant during customer interactions with awareness of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)

• Make lending decisions to support Metro Bank’s business objectives whilst reinforcing the correct Metro Bank operational processes and ensuring we get things right the first time for our customers

• Be responsible for credit risk and financial crime risk of your portfolio

• Support retail colleagues in local Stores, working collaboratively to generate new business and achieve great results for our customers

What you will need:

• Experience in commercial/SME business development, including new business generation, within a banking/financial services requirement

• Sound knowledge of commercial banking, with experience/ability to understand and write credit papers to the required level

• Portfolio and relationship management experience within a financial services environment, including a track record of generating new business

• Excellent communication and customer/client relationship management, passionate about relationship-led banking

• To be proactive to meet/exceed the objectives of the role

• Proven ability to build rapport internally and externally

• Awareness of financial crime and "what good looks like

• To understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
