Are you a qualified UK Solicitor or Barrister with 5+ years PQE looking for an exciting in-house legal role? The Role

As Commercial Counsel, you will provide high-quality legal services with a particular focus on client and supplier contracts, bids and procurement, and commercial risk management. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure legal compliance, mitigate risks, and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional commercial legal advice across NDAs, service agreements, framework agreements, IT/IP contracts, and procurement processes.
  • Lead contract drafting, negotiation, and review to ensure alignment with business objectives and risk management.
  • Support the bids and tenders process, ensuring legal compliance and strategic alignment.
  • Work closely with the Group Head of Legal to support the development of a strong legal function.
  • Oversee contract risk assessments and provide strategic legal guidance to key stakeholders.
  • Manage and develop members of the Legal Team, including Paralegals.
  • Represent Marston at client meetings, negotiations, and regulatory discussions.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with key legislation, including the Companies Act 2006, DPA 2018, and SRA regulatory framework.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified UK Solicitor or Barrister (minimum 5 years PQE).
  • Strong experience in commercial contract law, procurement law, and corporate governance.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and draft complex contracts in a commercial setting.
  • Experience working in-house within a legal team, preferably in the private sector.
  • Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence at board level.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
