Commercial ManagerLocation: West BristolSalary: £40,000 - £48,000Hours: Monday - Friday, 07:30-16:30 (16:00 finish on Fridays)Role OverviewThe Commercial Manager is a leadership role responsible for managing the commercial functions of the business, from initial order intake to post-work completions. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of key performance indicators (KPIs), manage and develop their team, and ensure that projects achieve or exceed targeted profitability. This position demands a strategic and hands-on approach to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesCost Management: Oversee and control project costs to ensure profitability.Tender Analysis and Estimation: Provide cover for tender analysis and estimation when required.Monthly Valuations: Submit interim applications and evaluate completed works on a monthly basis.Profitability: Ensure projects meet or exceed tendered return rates.Pre-Let Meetings: Conduct and attend meetings with relevant stakeholders as necessary.Client Interaction: Represent the business at client meetings and maintain strong client relationships.Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and thorough records of all commercial activities.Subcontractor Oversight: Verify sub-contract order values against quoted rates and figures.Team Accountability: Monitor KPIs quarterly and annually, addressing concerns with the company director.Team Meetings: Conduct weekly team meetings to reassess workflows and deadlines.Standard Terms & Conditions: Review and update the company's terms and conditions.Strategic Advising: Identify viable clients and projects to target.Process Improvement: Develop and refine internal processes and procedures.Reporting: Prepare and present commercial and progress reports to directors.Performance Analysis: Measure actual results against targeted figures quarterly.Turnover Monitoring: Ensure turnover aligns with quarterly targets.Dispute Resolution: Manage financial disputes in contract execution.Additional Duties: Perform any other reasonable tasks requested by management.Key Performance IndicatorsAchieving commercial/production KPIs.Attaining tendered or better gross profit on sales.Compiling monthly sales and budget analyses against forecasts and updating as required.RequirementsSkills & Attributes:Methodical Approach: Ability to execute tasks systematically and accurately.Time Management: Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.Communication Skills: Strong ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, from corporate clients to on-site teams.Problem Solving: Sound commercial judgment to identify and resolve issues effectively.Report Writing: Proficient in producing accurate and professional reports and documentation.Management: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to guide and motivate the team.Desirable Qualifications:HNC qualification or equivalent is advantageous.Industry knowledge in construction is preferred.Technical Skills:Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email applications.Familiarity with construction processes is a plus.Experience with job costing and budget management systems is beneficial.Professional Attributes:Written Communication: Clear and informative report writing and correspondence skills.Professionalism: Tactful, responsible, and capable of managing client expectations effectively.Teamwork: Collaborative mindset, prioritizing team success over individual achievements.Interpersonal Skills: Strong listening, influencing, and negotiation abilities.This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and commercially minded individual to lead a dynamic team, ensuring excellence in project delivery and client satisfaction.If you are interested, please click APPLY
