Company Accountant
Our client is a well established and fast growing construction/ contracting company based in and around the Chester area. We are seeking a dynamic, part qualified Company Accountant to join their team to help them take the Finance department forward and make fit for the future.
The ideal candidate would be a self starter with a strong background in accounting and the construction sector.
Company Accountant Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Purchasing element of the business working collaboratively with other staff.
- Account payable duties including entering invoices, checking statements, dealing with supplier queries, organising payment run and maintaining an accurate Aged Creditor report.
- Accounts receivable duties including raising Applications for Payment (AFPs), customer Invoices, chasing debt, debt query resolution and maintaining an accurate Aged Debtor report.
- Weekly bank reconciliations ensuring all bank reconciliations are entered and kept fully up to date.
- Maintain accurate supporting Balance Sheet schedules for Fixed Assets, Prepayments and Accruals.
- Full monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the monthly Balance Sheet and Management Accounts being reported on.
- Prepare and present monthly Management Accounts to the Directors and Shareholders.
- Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts bi-monthly or monthly depending on the requirements of the business.
- Preparation and submission of monthly CIS returns.
- Monthly Payroll journals.
- Organising payments for monthly PAYE and CIS returns to HMRC.
- Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
- Preparation and submission of annual P11D returns.
- Supporting external accountants in preparing and finalising Year End Accounts.
Company Accountant Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience of AP, AR, Credit Control, Management Accounts, VAT returns.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting legislation.
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time and prioritise work effectively.
- CIMA or ACCA part qualified is essential with a firm plan to finalise studies.
