Training & Competence Manager

Reed Financial Services are seeking a Training & Competence Manager to oversee and enhance a Training and Competence (T&C) regime in line with both FCA regulations and internal standards. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all staff, particularly those connected to regulated activities, possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and expertise to perform their duties effectively.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive T&C scheme tailored to the specific needs of the business, ensuring it adapts to regulatory changes and updates in the business model.
- Maintain and improve training programs for new starters, ensuring alignment with company, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Oversee the T&C function, ensuring all staff meet the firm’s skills, knowledge, and expertise requirements.
- Conduct regular file checks, reviews, and audits to maintain quality and compliance with FCA regulations.
- Provide regulatory advice and guidance across the business, ensuring all compliance aspects are up-to-date and adhered to.
- Manage and maintain internal T&C resources, including the development of KPIs that reflect business needs and potential risks.
- Directly manage the Technical Team Leader, ensuring effective performance management, training, and development.
- Ensure robust and up-to-date training and fit & proper assessments, certification, and code of conduct training records.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Detailed knowledge of FCA regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in a similar role, managing T&C within a regulated environment.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in direct management and team development.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and implement compliant, practical solutions.
- Proficient in maintaining CPD records and staying updated with regulatory developments.

Reporting and Compliance Monitoring:
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the effectiveness of the T&C scheme.
- Develop and maintain necessary compliance documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure a risk-based approach to compliance monitoring and manage the firm’s response to findings from T&C activities.
