Job Description:

Delivery of Islington Schools Service - Computing & Online Safety Service

A comprehensive package of resources, advice, support and continuous professional development (CPD) events for school leaders, teachers, staff, pupils and families to maximise the Online Safety Computing and Digital Literacy curriculum including:

  • preparation for Ofsted including the strategic development, safe and positive use of digital and computing
  • the planning and implementation of a localised and customised computing curriculum linked to DfE computing, making links to the broader curriculum, pupil voice and extra-curricular activity
  • Online Safety and Tech for Good for the whole school community.
  • teacher friendly and community orientated CPD.
  • curriculum implementation tools and resources for subject leader, staff, children and families.

How will this service be delivered?

  • fortnightly newsletter with the latest advice, news and information on Computing, online safety and digital in schools and free opportunities for your school to consider
  • planned delivery of school-based workshops with partner Edtech, Digital and Online safety industry including Three Discovery, Bletchley Park, Popjam, Miles Berry and Kate Russell
  • support for the strategic leadership of online safety (DSL) and computing (SLT + Computing) including Professional Partner Deep Dives into Computing
  • comprehensive support for online safety including policies, training and parent workshops for families EYFS upwards, pupil-led "tech celebrations", open classrooms and Safer Internet Day, together with support for managing incidents. Plus ideas to engage and reach the whole school community via the school newsletter with online safety and Tech for Good items and whole school digital charter
  • package for Computing Curriculum and Assessment Mapping and planning of curriculum.
  • preparation for Ofsted - Intent, Implementation and Impact
  • example website pages for computing
  • computing and online safety scheme of work with clear progression of skills and learning throughout EYFS, KS1 and KS2, evidence of progress and progressions tools with relevant cross-curricular opportunities, content mapped to DfE Teach Computing and Education for a Connected World framework and easy access CPD implementation tools
  • support to customise, plan and implement the Islington computing curriculum for your school, with whole school mapping, mixed age curriculum maps, year group units and assessment tools and preparation for Ofsted
  • professional development for the ICT/computing co-ordinator and leaders at exciting events organised with national Edtech Online safety and computing bodies and speakers including face-to-face leaders' training days in partnership with DfE Teach Computing and other partners and online workshops and briefings throughout the year
  • ongoing networking and support via the Islington Computing WhatsApp Group
  • a full day of in-school support audited to the school needs. This may include one-to-one work with leaders, teachers, delivery of INSET sessions, hands-on support for teachers in their classrooms or workshops for parents or governors on computing and online safety with feedback verbally at the end of each visit and provide a brief written summary with actions for next steps.
  • support for extra-curricular activities such as Code Club and pupil Digital Leader Resources.
  • support for Start of Year processes with accounts for pupils, maximising subscription and free digital tools for whole community.
  • management of London Grid for Learning (LGfL) resources and support to obtain value for money from these. (We work closely with the LGfL content grid editorial and LGfL Online Safety Group, to develop resources and policies, which are then embedded in the Islington online curriculum resource.)

facilitate exchange visits between schools for sharing good practice, for example, EYFS use of iPads and programmes such as "digital leaders"
