Role: Connections Engineer
Location: North East (Newcastle to Rotherham)
Duration: 6 Months
Job Purpose
- As an authorised engineer, lead the development and costing of connection offer proposals and feasibility studies for Customer related investments.
- Lead a multi-disciplined investment team in the project setup and option selection phase of the Network Development Process for a portfolio of customer investments for the GB Electricity Transmission System in support of the investment driver.
- Undertake engineering works to ensure least cost, fit for purpose and safe delivery solutions are prepared in accordance with the initial phase of the Network Development Process that deliver the business' regulatory, stakeholder and customer commitments.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the development and costing for several customer connection investments up to the point that an initial proposal has been developed and an investment driver has been established.
- Develop a range of costed delivery programme options for each project to discuss with the customer to ensure best fit and solution with their requirements.
- Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through positive engagement and work pro-actively to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Responsible for various trigger points in respect of the Quality of Connections Incentive, which will generate customer feedback. Once received, taking direct ownership for acting on that feedback.
- Lead the investment process for a portfolio of customer investments during the option selection phase of the Network Development Process
- Develop the least cost, optimal, efficient and safe solution in line with CDM Regulations and SHESQ considerations. Document all residual design issues, CDM issues, hazards and risks.
- Produce all required project documentation, ensuring governance is maintained throughout the investment process whilst also demonstrating the implementation of lessons learned and best practice.
- Assess the need for Front End Engineering Design (FEED) support and where required, appoint and lead the FEED contractor in their activities. Monitor and control the FEED budget and resolve any contractual issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain full authorisation to carry out duties.
Qualifications
- Relevant Degree or equivalent qualification(s) and/or relevant experience in a related field
- TP144 Authorisation, or experience required to complete within 18 months (for new entry)
- Registered member of a relevant professional body whilst working and training towards full chartered status is desirable.
