This role has a starting salary of £40,296 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.

This is an 18-month fixed term contract/secondment opportunity.

We are delighted to be able to offer a new Contract and Commissioning Officer vacancy within our Adults, Wellbeing and Health Partnerships Commissioning Service. The role will be hybrid which means a blend of working from home, Surrey offices and predominantly from a warehouse located between Guildford and Woking. This role will require travel to locations that are not easily accessible by public transport, therefore the successful applicant will need to have their own method of transport.

About the Team

This role will be part of the Adults, Wellbeing and Health Partnership Commissioning Service, whose focus is to deliver challenging strategic commissioning strategies whilst ensuring financial efficiency. The post is a rare opportunity to be situated within the Community Equipment Service team that oversees the essential Community Equipment Service contract and the Home Improvement Agency and Handy Person grants. All these services help some of Surrey's most vulnerable residents to stay active and safe in their own homes and often these services are critical for a safe and timely discharge from hospital.

About the Role

You will be working alongside the Contract and Commissioning Manager and will be expected to support positive change with innovative approaches, enthusiasm and 'can-do' approach.

Very few days are the same, the role will require you to be flexible and innovative in your approach and be able to evidence that you have good problem solving and priority setting skills. You will need to demonstrate that you are able to develop relationships and networks to work effectively towards a common goal.

You will need to be a team player with excellent organisational skills to ensure the various service contract terms and conditions are fulfilled. Managing the conversation between large and complex statutory and private organisations will be part of the everyday role, and you will need to show they have the experience and skills to do so. You will also demonstrate knowledge of the key statutory legislative requirements set against health and social care services. You will have experience of public sector accountability and can work and influence at a strategic level.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate where you have identified and supported change, detailing the methods used to identify the need and implement the improvement.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Degree qualified, or significant vocational experience demonstrating development through involvement in a series of progressively more demanding relevant work/roles. The candidate will need to evidence that they have experience within commissioning and or contract management. Relevant commissioning and contract management qualifications would be desirable but not essential.
  • Has the ability to analyse multiple data sources, summarise and effectively present this information through strong written and oral communication interpersonal skills, including facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Has experience in supporting or leading on contract management activities.
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills with the ability to use own initiative to independently devise, develop and implement beneficial changes within agreed timeframes.
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders at all levels within an organisation to achieve a common goal.
