AWE is recruiting a Contract Manager to manage critical commercial (supply chain) contracts post-award, ensuring value for money and mitigating commercial risk.

The focus will be on the management of one or two large professional services contracts, including administration, mobilisation, reporting, calls offs, change orders and task orders. This is as part of a key programme responsible for the development of 7 state of the art facilities.

Location: Reading area, with free onsite parking. Hybrid working is available.

Package: £46,000 to £65,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

Let us introduce the role

The primary purpose of this role is to manage contracts post-award. The Contract Manager will have a deep understanding of business requirements for assigned areas and will drive value for money by applying industry-leading contract management techniques to mitigate commercial risk. This role requires an experienced contract practitioner with expertise in commercial best practices, legalese, contract law, incentivization, and pricing.

The Contract Manager will oversee all aspects of contract negotiations, conflict resolution, and diplomacy to ensure suppliers meet their contractual obligations. They will administer contracts using robust management plans and performance procedures, ensuring full compliance with business governance. Additionally, the role will implement the AWE Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategy and framework for assigned suppliers, fostering innovation and efficiency through industry alliances and trusted relationships. The Contract Manager will report to the Principal Contract Manager.

Who are we looking for?

To ensure success as a Contract Manager, you should have NEC and/or CCS contract experience and managing Professional Services Contracts. We are also seeking individuals with public sector experience and previously used CEMAR or a similar contract administration tool.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Suppliers,

  • Understanding the requirements, duties and obligations of AWE under contracts to ensure alignment with the Business' goals and the industry regulations,

  • Supervising contract execution to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines,

  • Monitoring the implementation and performance of KPI's,

  • Obtaining the appropriate governance approvals

  • Managing and mitigating risks,

  • Creating meaningful relationships with Stakeholders.

Hybrid working is available for this role on an informal, non-contractual basis. Typically 1 day onsite per week in our London office.
