Job Location - Bristol, UK

From 12 UK sites, our team of over 1,400 people deliver unique capabilities across air, land, sea, space and cyber for military, security and commercial customers, worldwide.

L3Harris MAPPS (Bristol, Burgess Hill and Barrow-in-Furness) provides an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for the Royal Navy sub-surface and surface fleets, notably current Astute submarine and Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers, in-build Type 26 and Type 31 frigates. This software provides integrated monitoring and control of ship propulsion, electrical functions, auxiliaries and damage control machinery and systems.

The key purpose of the role is to provide an effective level of commercial support to the day-to-day operation of current programmes and bids within the business and help to ensure that all commercial interests of the business are protected and profitability is maximised within acceptable risk levels. Responsible for ensuring all business activities comply with applicable UK regulations and corporate policies.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Preparation of commercial quotations and proposals including pricing to meet customer requirements
  • Effective administration of Contracts and Agreements to maximize profitability, minimise exposure to risk and ensure timely achievement of project objectives.
  • Processing and maintenance of Non-Disclosure Agreements
  • Drafting and negotiation of contracts and agreements with customers and suppliers which include acceptable terms, price, payment plans in order to meet business objectives
  • Preparation and administration of Contract changes and positively contribute to resulting negotiations
  • Assessment and response to Request For Quotations ensuring risk mitigation and value for money is achieved and suits the customer’s needs
  • Ensuring contract order cover is received in a timely manner and processing of the purchase orders within the company
  • Processing of customer invoicing and chasing for payments as required
  • Maintenance of contracts trackers and contribution to internal reporting requirements
  • Support in the development and administration of commercial processes and procedures within the business

What you’ll bring

The role of Contracts Officer requires the following experience and skills:

  • 2+ years previous experience in a contracts/commercial role
  • Able to prioritise own workload and organise own time to achieve objectives
  • Seek to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Proactive style and results driven
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work with and deal with individuals at all levels of business both internally and externally
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • High standard of IT literacy including MS Office; particularly Excel
