Corporate Business Development Director - M&A3 Months starting on the 1st April 2025 Inside IR35Hybrid working 2 days per week in Central London

My client a top Global company are currently looking to recruit a Corporate Business Development Director to join their team on a 3-month contract basis. Please note if successful the Corporate Business Development Director will need to set up via an Umbrella Company/PAYE. The successful candidate will interact with our clients Executive Team members, external advisers, and other senior stakeholders. The Corporate Business Development Director role requires financial, valuation and influencing skills together with a broad understanding of our client's key domain in FMCG and Consumer Healthcare. Significant prior Corporate transaction experience is critical. Key deliverables are below:

  • Provide thought leadership on corporate finance theory and valuation.
  • Support in the development of our inorganic strategy.
  • Lead origination, evaluation and execution of inorganic opportunities.
  • Critically review and challenge business cases.
  • Provide central support to regions/sector senior management and business development teams as requested in respect of acquisitions, divestments, and other new business opportunities.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial impact analysis of inorganic opportunities on the Group.
  • Partner with other teams (e.g. Group Finance, Tax, Treasury) to assess the impact of inorganic opportunities.
  • Perform entity and product valuations for tax or other purposes.
  • Perform various periodic and ad-hoc financial and transaction analysis for Board meetings.
  • Assist with training and development of the team.

Why you?

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree level education or equivalent. Professional finance qualification (ACA, CIMA, MBA, CPA) preferred and an understanding of commercial legal concepts.
  • Ideally experience in either investment banking, lead advisory (e.g. at a leading accountancy firm) and/or previous corporate development experience at a large corporate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a "self-starter", and an ability to deliver high quality product to tight deadlines.
  • Extensive corporate finance experience with a focus on financial evaluation and valuation methodologies, gained in blue-chip industry, transaction advisory, investment banking, or strategic consulting.
  • Ability to create, understand and operate complex financial models as well as effectively utilise their outputs (e.g. DCFs and LBOs).
  • Ability to lead transactions end to end (origination through to deal completion).
  • Experience in leading small teams and developing others.
  • Experience in deal structuring.
  • Project management including the ability to conduct or manage specialised and thorough financial and commercial due diligence (as well as ability to coordinate different professional disciplines e.g. commercial, legal, tax). Capable of making persuasive recommendations to decision makers.
  • Experience in licencing transactions would be a plus.
