Forvis Mazars cares about your career progression, offering individually designed career paths that help you pursue your interests, match your changing needs, and explore your true potential. We work with diverse, prestigious clients across a range of sectors and geographies, giving you the opportunity to constantly update and grow your skills for lifelong professional development.

 About the team

‘I have been with Forvis Mazars for just over 4 years and what makes Forvis Mazars different is the friendliness of our team and the willingness of everyone in the team to help and collaborate on getting the right advice to our clients.  We also have a strong culture in helping staff to achieve their long-term goals at their pace.‘ (Steve Abbott, Tax Partner, Manchester)

We provide bespoke advice in all areas of taxation, helping our clients to navigate the complexities of tax codes, often in multiple areas of sector jurisdictions, and to help them ensure they are fulfilling all their obligations and paying the correct amount of tax.  In this way we help them to manage an area of significant financial and reputational risk and to make properly informed decisions about their tax position whether they are an individual, a business owner or a corporate organisation. We also help clients resolve any disputes they have with the tax authorities as swiftly as possible.

About the role

Your role as Associate Director in our Manchester Corporate Tax team will include:

  • Building long-term relationships across a portfolio of clients which you will have responsibility for managing.
  • Helping lead the Manchester tax compliance team, providing guidance, coaching and training to junior staff members to help them maximise their career opportunities.
  • Reviewing and approving corporation tax computations and tax accounting, as well as undertaking some tax assurance reviews.  Involved in ad-hoc advisory work that flows from your client base.
  • Negotiating and raising timetables and fees and being responsible for WIP management on your portfolio of clients.
  • Proactively talking to clients about tax opportunities which may be relevant to them, and working with the tax partners, and wider tax team to deliver on such work.
  • Being an active member of the national Tax Team, ensure national procedures are rolled out and fully adopted in Manchester.
  • Tax compliance work will represent at least 50% of this role but there is flexibility to mix this with advisory work for up to 50% of the role for the right candidate.

What are we looking for?

  • Extensive experience of working with a portfolio of clients to deliver on annual Tax compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrate broad and strong technical tax knowledge and experience.
  • Works effectively as part of a larger team, who proactively manages all team members.
  • Broad experience of managing the financials on clients, setting timetables delivering on budgets and negotiating fees with clients.
  • Experience of identifying opportunities for business development on tax clients (and ideally across other service lines).
  • Willingness to take on leadership roles both within Manchester and across the wider Tax team.
  • Responsible for assisting the development of more junior staff through coaching.
