We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Counsel to join our Asset Servicing and Digital Legal team as part of the wider EMEA Legal Department. This role is located in the United Kingdom – hybrid.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Follow developments and advise business and management on banking and financial law/regulation mainly in relation to asset servicing and safety 
  • Advise/support ASD business in developing and implementing services and products in line with applicable law & regulation;
  • Support the development and advise on ASD activities and asset safety (custody, depositary services);
  • Draft, review and/or negotiate contracts with clients (mainly custody services); 
  • Support strategic business initiatives in providing effective and timely legal advice and in drafting any legal documentation.
  • Support knowledge sharing within the legal team 
  • Supporting senior team members on a wide range of initiatives which could be regulatory in nature and/or client facing. 

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • A qualified Solicitor or Barrister currently licensed to practice in England & Wales with ideally 3-8 years PQE, relevant experience gained from a leading law firm / in-house
  • Experience of outsourcing, custody, cross border, MIFID desirable 
  • Ability to collaborate proactively with business colleagues and deliver clear, succinct advice
  • Ability to help identify and manage legal risks
  • Positive, commercial, and flexible attitude
  • Good drafting and negotiating skills
  • Willing to embrace and engage in developing a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Highly collaborative and strong communication skills.
  • Intellectually curious, adaptable, and interested in learning new skills.
