Credit Controller

• Job Type: Full-time
• Location: Carlisle
• Salary: £12.50 per hour
• Fixed term contract – 9 months+

We are seeking a dedicated Credit Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all overdue debts are collected and accurately accounted for, minimising the risk of bad debt while supporting the growth of our business in line with our strategic plan.

Day to Day of the role:

• Reduce debtor days and exposure to bad debts.
• Achieve monthly & quarterly collection targets.
• Manage your own customer ledger with precision, maintaining high levels of accuracy.
• Prioritise workload to contact all customers on your ledger, ensuring cash collection meets individual and team targets.
• Make informed credit limit decisions and exercise discretion when placing customers on stop for overdue balances.
• Escalate overdue debt in line with company procedures and report to trade credit insurers accurately & in a timely manner.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day problems to prevent recurring issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a Credit Control or similar role.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Experience with SAP B1 is advantageous.
• Confident and professional telephone manner.
• Basic knowledge of Excel & Outlook for managing customer ledgers.
• Organised with a high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Target driven with a high level of accuracy in all work.
