Job Title: Internal Customs Auditor 

Salary: Circa £45,000 depending on experience 

Location: Bolton or Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

MBDA are seeking a meticulous and experienced Internal Customs Auditor to join our team.

As the primary responsibility of this role is to assess, audit, and review the accuracy of HMRC customs entries, your role will be crucial in identifying errors, missed opportunities, and areas for improvement for the business. You will help us to optimise the efficiency and compliance of customs activities across the business and join our journey towards becoming an outstanding Customs team.

We offer the chance to work towards or enhance your existing qualifications in Customs Compliance.

What we're looking for from you:

  • A proven track record in customs compliance, customs auditing, or a similar role within a corporate environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HMRC customs regulations, UK Tariff, customs procedures, and related relief schemes.
  • Someone with a high level of integrity and attention to detail, who can work independently and has excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Experience with customs software systems and audit methodologies is an advantage.
  • A person who holds, or is studying towards, a professional qualification in Customs Compliance or related field is preferred.
