Customs Clerk
- Annual Salary: Up to £30,000
- Location: Felixstowe
- Job Type: Full-time with flexible hours
We are looking for a Customs Clerk to join our experienced customs team. This role is ideal for someone with previous customs experience, offering flexible working hours and a great group of colleagues. Knowledge of IPAFFS and Descartes systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Handling all aspects of customs entries and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with UK and international customs regulations.
- Liaising with clients, shipping companies, and transport operators to ensure smooth customs clearance processes.
- Preparing and submitting necessary documentation for the import and export of goods.
- Keeping up to date with changes in regulations and informing the team of any updates.
- Working closely with the customs team to resolve any issues that may arise during the customs process.
- Utilising customs software systems, such as Descartes, and learning new systems as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a customs role.
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and procedures.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing workloads.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in IT systems, with Descartes knowledge considered an advantage.
- IPAFFS knowledge is a bonus but not essential.
