Damp & Mould Surveyor

My client is a well-established housing association, seeking an experienced Damp & Mould Surveyor. They are expanding our team to include a dedicated damp & mould team to enhance our customer experience and safety standards.
Day to day of the role:
- Undertake complex damp and mould surveys and produce high-quality schedules of works.
- Lead on the delivery of damp & mould remedial works, ensuring customer safety.
- Manage damp and mould cases from start to finish, including inspections and validation of remedial actions.
- Uphold a zero-tolerance approach to damp and mould, aligning with legislative standards.
- Collaborate with legal disrepair surveyors and manage cross-cutting cases to completion.
- Work with the In-House Repairs team and partnering contractors to maintain acceptable work in progress (WIP).
- Provide weekly updates on case progress to the damp & mould manager.
- Stay updated with new guidance or legislation and adapt processes accordingly.
- Collaborate with the Housing Team to collectively resolve customer issues, including decants.
- Procure and manage partnering contractors for complex damp & mould remedial works.
- Ensure contractor performance meets KPI requirements and service level agreements.
- Develop proactive approaches to combat damp & mould with external agencies and partners.
- Utilise and develop IT systems to manage caseload effectively.
- Maintain the organisation’s core values and provide sufficient oversight on all cases.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in property maintenance.
- Expertise in identifying and remedying causes of damp and mould.
- Ability to produce high-quality defect analysis reports and schedules of works.
- Understanding of the Legal disrepair process and ability to produce Scott Schedules.
- Demonstrable experience in root cause analysis and diagnosing complex building defects.
- Knowledge of traditional and modern construction practices in housing.
- Familiarity with common procurement routes for maintenance works.
- Experience in specifying and installing mechanical ventilation measures.
- Thorough understanding and application of CDM regulations.
- Ability to draft tender documents/specifications/schedules of works and manage works.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including evening meetings.
- Experience in managing latent defect cases and undertaking HHSRS surveys.
Qualifications:
- Minimum HNC in construction, building, or equivalent experience.
