Job Description:Job Title Data Analyst/ Engineer Location London Corporate Title Vice President Group Strategic Analytics is part of Group Chief Operation Office (COO) which acts as the bridge between the Bank's businesses and infrastructure functions to help deliver the efficiency, control, and transformation goals of the Bank. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer, to join our team to build a big data analytical platform for the global foreign exchange business. This platform is used by strats, sales, traders, and quants, supporting them in executing diverse analytical tasks. In this role, you will not only support transforming raw data into meaningful insights but also contribute to the larger goal of driving business decisions through advanced analytics. Your key responsibilities
  • Participate in the design and development of the big data analytical platform. This includes implementing secure, scalable and highly functional data retrieval, processing, storage and analytical solutions
  • Drive the data analysis, ensuring the data quality and security. Provide insights and recommendations based on data trends and patterns
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineer and scientists, project managers, and technical leads to ensure successful implementation of data projects
  • Drive, support and mentor developers in the team, facilitating technical discussions and code reviews
  • Maintain and optimise the performance of existing big data solutions. Innovate and introduce new technologies and methodologies to improve the platform's performance and capabilities
  • Regularly communicate with business stakeholders for requirements gathering, progress reports, and results presentation. Support in translating complex technical details and propose solutions in a way that is easy for non-technical stakeholders to understand
Your skills and experience
  • Strong experience in Scala and Python, with ability to write robust and efficient code in these languages for big data processing and analytics
  • Deep knowledge of Apache Spark for large-scale data processing. Understanding with the Spark application programming interfaces (APIs) and performance tuning
  • Solid understanding of big data concepts and architectures. Experience working with various big data tools, platforms, and systems
  • Hands-on experience in ClickHouse for real-time query processing. Understanding of ClickHouse architecture, distributed systems, and columnar storage
  • Understanding of the open-source data frameworks. Experience in the design, implementation, and deployment of these frameworks
